What is Orthopaedic Trauma?
An external force such as a car accident or a fall can cause severe injury to bones, joints and/ or soft tissue. This results is what is known as Orthopaedic trauma.
Orthopaedic trauma relates to specific bones. These include the Spine, Clavicle, Upper limbs, Pelvis and Lower Limbs.
Examples include:
Closed Fracture – A fracture that does not include a break in the skin
Open Fracture – A fracture that include a break in the skin
Dislocations – Dislocation of a joint
Stress Fractures – Small hairline crack in the bone
